The Palawan State University, as one of the leading government higher education institutions in the province of Palawan aims to provide quality education opportunities to all students wanting to obtain their future education in this institution.

Under normal conditions, the university admits students after passing the university admission test and by complying with other requirements as required by the program. The traditional way of selecting and screening applicants for admission such as admission application registration and entrance examination will be implemented and administered in all levels both in the main campus and CCRDs including Cuyo campus. However, in the event to which the general public is affected, the university may devise some strategies or schemes that may help in determining who may enroll in the university under a certain program.

In response to the emerging health and logistical issues brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and in adherence to the existing National/Local IATF and university health and safety protocols and emergency measures, the OSAS Admissions Program has come up with policies and guidelines on the admission of all student applicants to the university. Online admissions applications, registration, submission of requirements and virtual assessment will be implemented. Applicants for admission to Kindergarten, Elementary, Junior and Senior High School, and College with exception to the Graduate School and Law School to which on a limited face to face shall not be required to take the admission test provided by the Testing Center. Admission requirements to the university will be on selective quota program ranking strictly based on the obtained General Weighted Average (GWA), Interviews and other program requirements set thereat. The GWA ranking shall remain to apply for selected non-board programs.

 

General Guidelines

  • An online pre-registration period will be set before the registration proper.
  • Online application registration will be opened to all qualified applicants.
  • Applicants for Kindergarten II, Grade I, JHS, SHS and College (board program) will have to undergo an oral and written interview to be set by their respective department and college.
  • Application requirements, qualifications and procedures will all apply to children of faculty and staff in all levels as well as to the graduates of the Laboratory Schools (LES and LHS-JHS/SHS).
  • There will be no transfer students for LES, LJHS and LSHS.
  • All applicants for Kindergarten, Grade I, JHS Grade 7, SHS Grade 11 will have to pay the non-refundable admission fee of Php350. Graduate School and School of Law, the amount of Php500 and foreign students will be charged at the rate of $16/Php800.
  • There will be a quota set for every academic program offered in each department/college.
  • Admission policies for college programs in the main campus likewise apply to the programs under CCRDs and Cuyo campus.
  • Pre-registration, Application, Evaluation, Interview of applicants both in the main and CCRDs including Cuyo campus are scheduled in the months of May, June, and July. The month of January will be set as schedule for the second semester. There shall be no admission for incoming freshmen during 2nd
  • Admission schedule will be widely disseminated through social media platforms, printed and tarpaulin advertisement, career and enrollment campaign through radio by the CCRDs and Cuyo campus.
  • The “No Admission Assessment and Evaluation Result, No Enrollment Policy” will be strictly observed and implemented in the main and CCRDs and Cuyo campus.

Special Provision

  • Kindergarten, Grade 6, and Grade 10 Completers/Graduates from PSU Laboratory Schools shall automatically be admitted to the next Grade Level.
  • Students who did not meet the qualifications/admission criteria shall be placed on probationary status for two quarters periods
  • Grade 12 Graduates of the PSU-LSHS shall be given priority in the College Academic Program that they have applied for, provided that they meet the qualifications of the chosen academic program.
  • In any case, transfer students will only be accommodated depending on the availability of slots. The curriculum should be aligned with the curriculum of this institution.
  • Applicants with special needs (SSN), persons with disabilities (PWD), and those belonging to the indigenous group/cultural communities and Senior High School Alternative Learning System graduates shall be given consideration in their admission to the program applied at.
  • In addition to the admission requirements, they must submit document/s which is/are applicable such as PWD Identification Card or any equivalent certification, Certification of Indigency from their respective barangay, Certificate of Tribe Membership, or any equivalent certification belonging to indigenous group/cultural community and parents latest Income Tax Return (ITR).
